ABOUT MELBOURNE
Oswin & Elizabeth Faingaa (pictured) are the Senior Pastors of Breakthrough Church Melbourne. Recently married, they lead a dynamic team of young leaders who are radically laying their lives down for the call of God for their city.
BRIEF HISTORY
Breakthrough Church Melbourne is the youngest church in the BCI network of church plants.
The BCI initiative for Melbourne was birthed initially in governmental prayer sessions about three years ago. In May 2006, the first phase of the building for BC Melbourne took place with a rally that was held in Springfield.
This rally was a follow up from an initial visit to Melbourne in March 2006 by David Vaka and a small team, to meet with potential key people for BC and to scout the land.
After this first rally, Oswin Faingaa was sent from BC Brisbane to Melbourne to live and work on the ground in establishing things for the eventuation of a BC church in the city. This move proved to be strategic, as the second rally in June took place.
The second BCI rally was held at the same place, only this time there were more people and more of an established spiritual platform for not only the rally, but also for building beyond these events and into the body of Christ in the city.
With Oswin on the ground, he was able to build relationships with pastors and community leaders that lead to a wider network for impact in Melbourne. He also began to establish the foundations for a BC church to start.
In December 2006, Oswin married Elizabeth Farani and the two are now pioneering the church plant in Melbourne with a core group of leaders and members.
